Edexcel GCSE Biology

About this course

Biology, like Chemistry and Physics, consists of three parts:
Modules from Core Science (B1) and Additional Science (B2) plus an extension module (B3).

I’m including on this page details of the extension modules for both old and new courses. Make sure you know which course you are taking – old or new.

Exam dates in 2012

Old course
Biology B3 – May 15th
Chemistry C3 – May 21st
Physics P3 – May 24th

New course
The extension modues will be examined for the first time in Summer 2013

You can find past papers, marking schemes and other resources on the old Edexcel science website

New course
The new edexcel website is a shambles at the moment (December 2011). To find specimen papers, go to the Exams Page and click on the Exemplar link. Then, under the ‘Refine your search’ heading, click on the ‘Sample assessment materials’ link (not the Additional sample assessment materials  link).  This will display a list of specimen papers. If you click on the ‘download’ links, they often don’t appear, and sometimes freeze the page, in which case you could try downloading using a plugin such as FireFox FlashGot. Let me know if you have trouble. The papers listed are specimen papers for all the new Edexel Science courses – core, additional and extension (that is units 1, 2 and 3).
